Strasburg second start in the books

Written by Mark Buterbaugh on . Posted in Washington Nationals

Stephen Strasburg's second start is in the books. Strasburg had some frustrations and adversity he had to work through today, including a change up that was off and issues with the condition of the mound. Strasburg departed with one in the fifth inning with the bases loaded. However, fellows 2009 first rounder, Drew Storen, took over and bailed his partner out, forcing a popup out to second base and recording a big strikeout for the final inning out.

The Strasburg numbers on the day were;

Innings: 5.1
Hits: 2
Runs: 1
Walks: 5
Strikeouts: 8

In two starts, Strasburg has allowed 6 hits, 5 walks, 22 strikeouts, and 3 runs in 12.2 innings. Impressive! He will likely also be 2-0.

At this writing, Nats lead 6-1 powered by a double and home run by Adam Dunn, a 2 run double by Ivan Rodriguez, and an RBI triple by Ian Desmond.
