Nats closing in on Edwin Jackson?

According to several reports on twitter, including Buster Onley from ESPN, the Nationals may be closing in on a deal to acquire Arizona P Edwin Jackson for prospects.  Nats GM Mike Rizzo is said to be a fan of Jackson and his 94 MPH fastball.

Jackson has a 14-11 season in 2008 with the Diamondbacks, posting a 4.42 ERA and recording 108 strikeouts.  In 2009, Jackson was even better, posting a 13-9 record with a 3.82 ERA and fanning 162 batters.  He has had an off-season this year, posting a record of 6-9 with an ERA of 5.01.  He ate 214  innings in 2009 and has thrown 129.1 innings this year.  Jackson is still young at age 27.

No word on what prospects are in the discussion.  I will wait to take stance on this until we see what the Nats are willing to give up.

Earlier reports had the Nationals in a three way discussion involving Jackson, Adam Dunn and prospects, along with the White Sox.  Arizona has denied any three way discussions.
