Davey Johnson NL Manager Of The Year
Washington Nationals Manager Davey Johnson has been named Naitonal League Manager of the Year by the Sporting News. Johnson led the Nats to a 98-64 record and their first National League East Crown. Johnson was selected by a panel of fellow major league skippers.
"To be recognized by my fellow comrades, a particularly accomplished bunch, makes this award especially meaningful. I send my thanks to them and the folks at Sporting News, as well as the Lerner family and Mike Rizzo for giving me the opportunity to manage such a special, talented group of men. To put on the uniform every day and compete is an honor I never take for granted."
Johnson was selected as the American League Manager of the Year in 1997 while piloting the Baltimore Orioles. The 69 year old Johnson is expcted back to manage the Nats in 2013, with details considered a formality.
