Team USA advances in the World Baseball Classic behind a solid start from Nats starter Gio Gonzalez.  Gonzalez provided Team USA a sizzling performance on the mound, tossing 5 shutout innings, scattering 2 hits, allowing no walks, and fanning 5 batters, to help lead Team USA to a 7-1 rout of Puerto Rico.

The start for Team USA was Gonzalez first appearance, representing his country.

Fellow Nats starter Ross Detwiler threw 4 scoreless innings a few days ago, picking up the save for Team USA.

Team USA will face the Dominican Republic on Thursday.
