LaRoche, Burnett decline options with Nats
Gold Glove forst baseman Adam LaRoche and dependable reliver Sean Burnett have declined their mutual club options, making both eligible to hit the free agency market. Both moves by the players were expected.
Washington is apparently negotiating with LaRoche. Reportedly, both sides have discussed contract parameters and both sides are interested in consummating a deal. LaRoche stated last week that 'progress' was made in talks on a new deal.
We shall see. As for Burnett, Washington could look to re-ink Burnett. Burnett is looking for a multi-year deal after signing a two year extension with the Nats in 2010, after being acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
