Nats hammer Brewers 12-2

The Washington Nationals pounded the Milwaukee Brewers for 14 hits and 12 runs to defeat the Brewers 12-2.  With the win, the Nats increase their division lead back to 5 games and lower the magic number for winning the NL East crown to 5 games.  

Jordan Zimmermann (12-8) provided another excellent start for the Nationals, throwing 6.2 innings and scattering 4 hits while fanning 7 batters.  Zimmermann tossed 106 pitches, 72 for strikes.  He also contibuted at the plate, going 2 for 3, scoring a run, and driving in a run. 

Jayson Werth went 2 for 4, scored a run, and drive in 2 runs.  He improved his vaerage to .306.  Bryce Harper, hitting behind Werth, scored 2 runs.  Ryan Zimmerman swung the mad bat, giong 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs, and driving in 4 runs.  He hit his 24th homer of the season in the fourth inning off former Nats prospect Marco Estrada.  Kurt Suzuki added 2 hits and 2 RBIs.  

The Nationals offense had 5 players with a multi-hit game (Werth (2), Zimmerman (3), Espinosa (3), Suzuki (2), Zimmermann (2).  Rookie prospect Eury Perez pinch hit for Harper late in the game and got his first major league hit.  

Nats Streaks:
