Nats Still Searching For Bullpen Help?

As Mike Rizzo continues to shop Mike Morse, the Nationals are looking at other options to bolster their pitching staff.

The Nats are reportedly interested in 36-year-old Javier Vazquez who is working out for scouts in his native Puerto Rico. Vazquez is touching the mid-90's, which has caught the eye of at least three major league teams.

Vazquez had a solid 2011 season with the Marlins, but sat out last season. The Nats added Dan Haren in the off season to fill out their rotation, but Vazquez could work in long relief or as a spot starter, or even bump one of the projected starters to the bullpen.

Washington has also added a trio of relievers.

-Six foot eight inch Sean West is a left hander that spent several seasons with the Marlins. West was once a top prospect, but did not pitch in 2012.

-28 year old left hander Brandon Mann has signed a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. Mann spent the last two seasons pitching in Japan after eight seasons with the Dodgers and Rays.

-Ross Ohlendorf is a 30 year old right hander who pitched in San Diego last season. Ohlendorf showed considerable promise in 2009-'10 in Pittsburgh, but has struggled the past two seasons.

Nationals pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in less that a month.
