Nats win! Werth's walk off homer ties NLDS at 2

With the score tied at one in the bottom of the ninth inning at an electric Nationals Park, leadoff hitter Jayson Werth strolled to batter's box and calmly worked a full count, fouling off seven pitches from Cardinals reliever Lance Lynn in the process. Werth crushed the 13th pitch of the at-bat over the left field fence to give the Washington Nationals a 2-1 win in game four of the NLDS and extend Washington's season for at least one more game.
Werth raised his right index finger to signal "#1" as he rounded the bases, acknowledging the cheers from well over 44,000 delirious fans. The Nationals and Cardinals play again tomorrow evening in game five to decide the winner of the series. The winner will go on to face the San Francisco Giants. The Nats will send their top starting pitcher, Gio Gonzalez, out to the mound Friday.
