Report: Redskins may cut Haynesworth
Veteran Redskins scribe Dave Elfin reports that Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan says news about disgruntled no-show DT Albert Haynesworth could happen soon. Elfin writes that he wouldn't be shocked if the Redskins cut Haynesworth outright.
I would be shocked.
Are the Redskins really going to pay Haynesworth $32 million for 15 games of work and then just let him walk for nothing the first time he bitches about his role in the new defense? What sort of amateurish franchise handles things that way? Give Haynesworth his release? I can't think of a better way to reward Haynesworth's contemptible behavior and encourage future whiners to emulate his example.
My view hasn't changed. If the team gets a decent offer for Haynesworth [unlikely] then they should take it. Otherwise, sit him and fine him the maximum amount [$9442 per day right now, but more if he skips training camp] every single day until he concedes. Cutting Haynesworth would be a pitiful show of weakness by the Redskins.
