Shanahan "disappointed" in Haynesworth

Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan said today he's "disappointed" that disgruntled DT Albert Haynesworth did not report to the mandatory minicamp today. Haynesworth's agent said last night the player would skip the minicamp and Haynesworth was absent for the 6:30 am physical today.

"Obviously he took the check. So I was surprised he wasn’t here [at mini-camp], because I thought he did make that commitment once he took that check, that he wanted to be a Washington Redskin and he wanted to do the best thing for the Washington Redskins to help our defense and help our team win. Obviously it didn’t go in that direction. So we’re very disappointed."

This is exactly correct. Haynesworth took that gigantic bumper payment earlier this year and apparently he did so in bad faith. It's hard to see how he ever intended to show up to minicamp. I appreciate that Haynesworth doesn't want to play in the 3-4 defense and I even sympathize a little. But he took that money. If he wasn't going to accept playing in the defense, he should not have accepted the money.
