Redskins to release RB Tim Hightower
Several sources are reporting that the Washington Redskins will release RB Tim Hightower. Hightower's season ended early last year with a torn ACL. He returned this season, but only played in the pre-season game against Indianapolis. He looked pretty good, but reportedly, has knee soreness after the game.
If true, and barring trades, the Redskins running game will be led by two year running backs Evan Royster and Roy Helu and rookie Alfred Morris.
The news is now confirmed. Hightower's knee flared up again after the Colts game and did not play in the pre-season finale. Hightower's release makes the total running cuts to 17.
