Redskins defeat Saints 40-32

Many Redskins fans are pretty happy, but it is a surprise. Veteran QB Rex Grossman is inactive in Week One. The Redskins chose OT have fourth round pick Kirk Cousins backup fellow rookie Robert Griffin III at quarterback. Says a lot about where Mike Shanahan is with this teams. He will ride the continued youth movement. Additionally, he will also go with rookie Alfred Morris at running back. Well deserved honor in my opinion. Morris gained 195 yards on 31 carries to lead Redskins running backs in the preseason.
1st Quarter: Redskins 10 Saints 7
Redskins kick it off and Billy Cundiff gets his first touchback. Saints go three and out on their own drive. Griffin completes three straight passes to Pierre Garçon. Redskins are having success with these screen passes. Redskins go up 3-0 on a Billy Cundiff field goal. Saints march right down the field and score on a TD pass to Jimmy Graham. WOOT! Robert Griffin's first NFL TD pass goes 88 yards to Pierre Gracon. Wow. Saints go three and out. Redskins pick up a first down on a 4th and 1 with a handoff to FB Darrel Young. End of first quarter.
2nd Quarter: Redskins 20 Saints 14
Redskins driving in the second quarter. Griffin completes a big pass to Fred Davis to move the Redskins into the red zone. Griffin throws his second TD of the game to Aldrick Robinson. RGIII has been a huge difference maker. DeAngelo Hall with a big sack. Saints forced to punt. Redskins convert a 41 yard field goal by Cundiff, his second of the game. Cundiff with his third touchback of the game. Redskins force a fumble and with the ball into the end zone, Redskins take over on the 20 with under two minutes. Redskins go three and out. Saints block Redskins punt and recover for a TD.
3rd Quarter and 4th Quarter: Redskins 40 Saints 32
Redskins get a huge pass interference on 4th and inches. Alfred Morris on a one yard TD run. Saints go three and out. Redskins are driving and inside Saints territory. Redskins grab another Cundiff field goal. Saints put an impressive drive together, but Redskins hold the Saints to a field goal. Redskins add three more. Cundiff is 4 for 4 on the day. Ryan Kerrigan with a big sack on Brees. Redskins go three and out and will punt it away. Brees hits Lance Moore for a TD pass with 6:19 left. Horrible coverage by Madieu Williams. Redskins go three and out. Will they choke or will they hold? DEJON GOMES WITH THE INTERCEPTION!!! Redskins have the ball 1st and goal on the three yard line. Touchdown REDSKINS! Rookie RB Alfred Morris scored from the three yard line. Saints are driving with a little over 2:30 remaining. Touchdown Saints. Redskins forced to punt with just 30 seconds left in the game.
