The Redskins are 1-0. On the road. Against the New Orleans Saints. Even more so, The Redskins offense scored 40 points. That is FORTY POINTS! So who gets the Thumbs up and Thumbs down? We will tell you . . .

THUMBS UP

QB Robert Griffin III: Anyone that thinks this kid will not be a star, two words for you . . . SUCK IT! Griffin was THE difference maker. Redskins went into New Orleans as big underdogs with a rookie quarterback. They walked out the winner on the arm of RGIII. Griffin threw 26 passes and completed 19 for 320 yards and 2 TDs. After hitting 5 consecutive passes to Pierre Garçon and losing him to an injury, Griffin was not shaken. Griffin stood through pressure, took hits, and scanned the field like a top veteran. He also picked up 42 yards in 10 carries. Anyone watching closely last season knew the flaws of the Redskins offense were predominantly at quarterback. Not so in 2012. Griffin and the revamped offense put up 40 points and 464 yards to propel the Redskins to a 1-0 start. Kudos to you RGIII.

RB Alfred Morris: After seeing Evan Royster listed first on the depth chart, even Royster did not believe it. Instead Mike Shanahan turned to a rookie sixth round draft choice and it resulted in two touchdowns. Morris ran for 98 yards on 26 carries. Moreover, he ran with authority and strength often surviving first impact hit. Mike Shanahan is known for plucking running backs out of nowhere and he did so again with this kid in the sixth round out of small school Florida Atlantic. Morris' performance earned him the Shanahan 'hot hand' and we will likely see much more of Morris in week two.

Honorable Mention: Come on. Many of you were critical of the Redskins release of Graham Gano and the signing of Billy Cundiff. What do you say now? Cundiff put the ball deep for several touch backs and went 4-4 on the day. Cundiff connected from 37, 41, 37 and 45. Think Gano would have done that? You keep thinking that.

THUMBS DOWN:

S Madieu Williams: Williams was awful. He committed several penalties and was embarrassed deep. Nothing more to be said. There were several dropped interceptions, but in the spirit of the big WIN, we will only hand out one Thumbs Down and we do that because Williams was so bad.
