St. Louis Rams: An Early Look
The Redskins look to build on their monumental win in New Orleans when they face the Rams in St.Louis on Sunday. The Rams came up just short in their opener, falling to the Lions in Detroit 27-23. Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was effective, going 17-25 for 198 yards and a touchdown. Steven Jackson remains the leader of the St.Louis ground game, but he was held in check by the Lions, with only 53 yards rushing on 21 carries. The Rams were turnover free against Detroit, while intercepting Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford three times.
St.Louis has been building its front four in recent drafts, with a trio of first round picks; Chris Long, Robert Quinn and 2012 selection Michael Brockers. Middle linebacker James Laurinaitas is the leader of the Rams defense and has been joined by former Redskin Rocky McIntosh. New Head Coach Jeff Fisher has drastically upgraded the cornerback position with free agent Cortland Finnegan and second round draft pick Janoris Jenkins.
Washington acquired the draft pick used to select quarterback Robert Griffin III in a trade with St.Louis. The Rams receiving first and second round selections in the 2012 draft, along with first round picks in 2013 and 2014.
