Best Ever series: Redskins running back

The Best Ever series continues on. Here are the results of the First Four polls on the DCPSR Best Ever poll series that will run throughout summer. YOU voted!

1) Best Ever First Round Draft Pick: TIE: CB Darrell Green and QB Sammy Baugh, both tied at 46.81%

2) Best Ever Quarterback: QB Sammy Baugh 50% (2nd place: Sonny Jurgenson, 26.67% --- 3rd Place: Joe Theismann, 17.5%)

3) Best Ever Redskins Pass Rusher: DE Dexter Manley (79.59%) (2nd Place: DE Charles Mann, 17.35%)

4) Best Ever Redskins Special Teamer:  KR/PR/RB Brian Mitchell (69.21%)

This will be a much, much tougher poll for our members and readers.   Here are your nominees . . .

Larry Brown (1969-76). Brown rushed for 5,875 yards on 1,530 carries for the Redskins. During his Redskins career, He rushed for 35 TDs and average 3.8 yards per carry and 57.6 yards per game. He had 40 fumbles. He also caught a career 2,845 yards out of he backfield. His best season came in 1972 when he rushed for 1,216 yards and had 8 Td. In 1970, Brown rushed for 1,125 yards and had 5 Tds. Brown had two 1,000 + season with the Redskins. Brown played his entire career with the Redskins. He was a 4 time Pro Bowler and 2 time All Pro.

John Riggins (1976-85). Riggo is the all time Redskins leading rusher. Riggins rushed for 7,472 yards on 1,988 carries for the Redskins. During his Redskins career, He rushed for 79 TDs and average 3.8 yards per carry and 65.5 yards per game. He had 36 fumbles.  He also caught a career 2,090 yards out of he backfield. His best season came in 1983 when he rushed for 1,347 yards and had 24 Tds, a franchise record. He followed that up in 1984, by rushing for 1,239 yards and had 14 Tds. Riggo had four 1,000 + season with the Redskins. Brown played his entire career with the Redskins. He was a 1 time Pro Bowler and 1 time All Pro. Elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in 1992.
