McNabb to wear #5, Will be introduced tomorrow
New Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb has secured the #5 jersey from QB Colt Brennan. Like Brennan had any other option. Brennan will more than likely be jettisoned from the roster this year regardless, but unemployment would have come sooner if there were a jersey problem.
PFT's Mike Florio noted Sunday night that it should be a simple arrangement in which Brennan, who wore No. 15 at Hawaii, takes his old college number. And the Redskins say that's exactly what will happen.
We don't know if McNabb offered anything to Brennan for his jersey number, but we're guessing they were able to come to a more amicable agreement than Ifeanyi Ohalete and Clinton Portis.
McNabb will be introduced at Redskins Park tomorrow at 12:00 noon. Of course, we here at DC Pro Sports Report will have full coverage and reaction.
Mike Shanahan reportedly will meet with Jason Campbell later today. I don't think there is any secret on what will occur here. The Redskins will likely tell Campbell that they will agree to trade him and will work on the best deal and best situation for Campbell.
Reports also surfaced that the Redskins offered DT Albert Haynesworth in the deal, which Philadelphia rejected. Not surprising. Haynesworth was just inked last year, but was not a Allen/Shanahan move. The Redskins will likely continue to try and shop Haynesworth as well. Question is, given the contract size, will there be any takers.
