Yes, the defense of the Washington Redskins was shredded today by the offense of the St. Louis Rams to the tune of 452 yards of scrimmage, but the news got only worse after the game. Starting DE Adam Carriker suffered a knee injury early in the game and will undergo an MRI soon, probably Monday. Head Coach Mike Shanahan said after the game the injury does not look good, indicating the Redskins may lose Carriker for the rest of the season. His place in the lineup would be taken by DL Jarvis Jenkins and DL Kedric Golston.

Additionally, OLB Brian Orakpo left the game in the first half with a pectoral injury, basically the same injury he suffered in the last season. Orakpo made several attempts to come back, but couldn't stay in the game and eventually left it permanently in the third quarter. Orakpo could be lost for multiple weeks. He had surgery on that pectoral muscle during the offseason, so we appear to have a chronic problem here, at least for the time being.

Starting CB Josh Wilson suffered a concussion and was not available for postgame interviews. Players who suffer concussions are not allowed to practice or play until cleared by the medical staff so it isn't clear when Wilson will return to action.
