Redskins give Danny Smith, Jim Haslett contract extensions
Talk about weird timing, the Washington Redskins have given contract extextsions to two coaches under fire for this past weeks loss to the St. Louis Rams. Defense coordinator Jim Haslett and Special Teams Coach Danny Smith have been both extended though the 2013 season.
The extension were repordly agreed to during the offseason. However, the annoucements of both extensions came today. The announcements come just days after Smith was criticized for his special teams allowing a punt block in consecutive weeks. Shanahan has gone out of his way to defend Smith and criticize missed assignments and lack of execution. For Haslett, he has been under fire after the Rams exploded for 31 points and over 450 total yards of offense in the Redskins 31-28 loss to the Rams.
Both coaches have been under fire from media and bloggers for the breakdowns in the loss, despite Shanahan's defense.
