Redskins Roster News
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed that the Redskins will try out kickers tomorrow. For the second consecutive week, K Billy Cundiff missed a field goal under 35 yards. Not surprising his Redskins career last only 4 games, missing what Shanny referred to as 'chip shots' shortens a kicking career. On the season, Cundiff has only converted 7 of 12 attempts. According to Zac Boyer, the Redskins will worl out Olindo Mare, Josh Brown, and Kai Forbath. Multiple sources have reported that Neal Rackers will not be invited for a workout. Rackers lost the starting job to Graham Gano, who was cut shortly therefater and replaced with Cundiff. Should the Redskins acquire a new kicker, it will be the 18th kicker since 1994.
The Redskins also learned today that they will lose Brandon Merriweather for four more weeks. Merriweather was set to make his Redskins debut two weeks ago, when he collided with WR Aldrick Robinson in pre-game warm ups and reinjured his knee. Redskisn are still struggling on the longa ball in pass protection.
Redskins believe they will get RT Jammal Brown back after the Bye Week, Week 11. Brown was set to start at RT this season, but had continued problems with his hip. Tyler Polumbus has started in place of Brown and has been inconsistent at best.
