Injury Update: LT Trent Williams [right knee] is day to day. Jordan Black starts if Williams cannot. RB Evan Royster (right patellar tendon) and CB Cedric Griffin (hamstring) are day-to-day. Shanahan still isn't sure when WR Pierre Garcon (bruised right foot) will return. He'll test his foot in practice Wednesday. SS Brandon Meriweather (knee) will try to practice this week.
Injuries to TBs Evan Royster and Roy Helu must be serious enough for the Redskins to sign TB Ryan Grant -- which they did yesterday. Apart from the newly-arrived Grant, starter Alfred Morris is the only healthy tailback on the roster.
Minor Redskins transactions: The team waived DB Crezdon Butler and signed CB David Jones, a 6-year NFL veteran who played with the Skins during the preseason. The team signed DL Chigbo Anunoby to the practice squad and waived DL Delvin Johnson.
John Keim's defensive studs and duds from week three: pretty much the entire secondary makes the dud list, while OLB Rob Jackson and DE Stephen Bowen are among those who make the stud list.
Rich Campbell hands out game balls and gassers on defense. His list looks similar to Keim's, but Campbell also notes that the defense seems very vulnerable to quick pass plays that set up long bombs later on. The defense is stopping the run well enough, but the secondary is very vulnerable.
Some answers to the question of why RG3 is getting hit so much.
Is this Sunday's road game in Tampa against the Buccaneers already a must-win for the Redskins?
The NFL fined Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan $25, 000 for berating an official during last Sunday's loss to the Bengals. I'd still like to know why the younger Shanahan didn't face the press after his costly and damaging emotional outburst -- the way WR Josh Morgan did the year before.
