Redskins sign RB Ryan Grant

The Washington Redskins have agreed to terms with former Green Bay running back, Ryan Grant.  The Redskins needed depth at running back coming out of Week 3 loss to the Bengals.  Both Evan Royster and Roy Helu, backups to rookie starter Alfred Morris, were banged up in the game.

A six-year veteran, Grant has rushed for 4,016 yards in his career, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He has 25 rushing touchdowns.

Grant started 14 games in 2011 but tallied only 134 carries for 559 yards.

The Redskins looked at Grant prior to the season to add depth and competition, but never closed a deal.

In other injured news, the Redskins released injured CB Crezdon Butler.  Butler appeared in his first game with Washington this past week and suffered a hamstring injury.  To replace Butler, the Redskins signed CB David Jones.  Jones was with Washington during training camp and was one of the last players released in the final 53 cut down.
