Redskins set 2012 practice squad
DL Doug Worthington made the Redskins practice squad
The Washington Redskins have announced their eight 2012 practice squad players and here they are:
WR Emmanuel Arceneaux - Two seasons in the CFL and 3 games last season with the Minnesota Vikings. Measurements: 6'2", 215 lbs.
RB Antwon Bailey - Spent the preseason with the Redskins. Measurements: 5'7", 195 lbs.
OT Tom Compton - Drafted by the Redskins in the 6th round and spent preseason with the team. Measurements: 6'5", 308 lbs.
LB Darryl Gamble - Played five games for the San Diego Chargers last year. New to the Redskins. Measurements: 6'2", 255 lbs.
FB Robert Hughes - Spent time with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011 and this past offseason. New to the Redskins. Measurements: 5'11", 235 lbs.
TE DeAngelo Peterson - Rookie who spent preseason with the St. Louis Rams. New to the Redskins. Measurements: 6'3", 243 lbs.
NT Jason Shirley - Drafted in the 5th round by Cincinnati Bengals in 2008. Appeared in three games for Bengals in 2008 and four for Carolina Panthers in 2011. New to the Redskins. Measurements: 6'5", 329 lbs.
DE Doug Worthington - Played for the Redskins last year and spent preseason with the team. Measurements: 6'5", 311 lbs.
First thing I noticed is that only three of these players have been with the Redskins before and five are new to the team. Thus, we don't have any tape of these guys in a Redskins uniform and it isn't clear how they fit on the team, if at all. Second thing I noticed is that OLB Markus White, young and solid backup, didn't make the practice squad. Unfortunately, he was claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who clearly were paying attention last Wednesday as the Redskins thrashed them 30-3 in the final preseason game of 2012.
