According to numerous reports quoting an NFL league soruce, the Washington Redskins have signed 26 year-old kicker Kai Forbath.  That would mean the end of Billy Cundiff in Washington.

Forbath spent pre-season with theTampa Bay Bucaneers and was quite impressive.  However, he stood little chance of ousting K Conner Barth.  Forbath made all five field goal attemtps for Tampa, including going 4 for beyond 40 yards and 2 for 2 beyond 50 yards.  Forbath beat out Olindo Mare and Josh Brown.  According to sources, Forbath hit a few field goals beyond 60 yards.

Forbath played for the UCLA Bruins from 2006-2010, redshirting his freshman season. In his second season with the Bruins Forbath hit 25 of 30 field goal attempts and became the second Bruin in history to hit five or more field goals of 50 yards or more in a season. In his sophomore season Forbath was named All-Pacific 10 after connecting on 19 of 22 field goal attempts, including 13 in a row during one particularly good stretch.

As a junior Forbath hit another 3 field goals from 50 or more yards and won the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award after his 2009 season. In 2010 Forbath won Pac-10 Conference Special Team Player of the Week after hitting a game-winning 51-yard field goal on November 6 against Oregon State.

Forbath wasn't selected in the 2011 NFL Draft despite being graded as the second best kicker in the class, according to most experts. The Dallas Cowboys signed him as an unrestricted free agent in August of that year. He spent the season with Dallas on the reserve/non-football injury list before being waived in April of this year. The Buccaneers signed him the day after the Cowboys waived him.

Now, he's a Redskin.

To make room for Forbath, the Redskins officially released K Billy Cundiff

ADDITIONAL ROSTER MOVE Redskins have released Lb Markus White.  White was a 2011 NFL Draft pick by the Redskins and spent last season on the roster.  He was wiaved earlier this year in training camp, but resigned when Brian Orakpo was placed on season endding IR.  Redskins have signed OLB Mario Addison.  Addision was signed from the Colts practice squad.
