This was a very close competition in week 6 between Robert Griffin, Ryan Tannehill and Russell Wilson, all of whom led their teams to victory. Brandon Weeden also played very well in leading his team to its first win after eleven straight losses dating back to last year. Andrew Luck, last week's winner, took a big step back in week 6, throwing two picks -- another was called back on penalty -- and not leading his team to a single touchdown against the struggling NY Jets.
Tannehill has improved three straight weeks and now looks not only like a real NFL quarterback, but someone who could be pretty good much earlier than anyone anticipated. Wilson, the only one of the bunch who wasn't taken in the first round, has staked his team to the best record and looks like a real threat in the NFC West. Wilson played spectacularly yesterday and his win over the Patriots, in which he out-dueled Tom Brady, was a real eye-opener. Wilson looked like he might get benched a couple of weeks ago. Now it is difficult to imagine anyone else leading that team under center. Weeden has improved nicely after his disastrous start and got his team a win on his 29th birthday. He looks like he might be the real deal. RG3 is just so special. He threw only his second interception of the season yesterday, but he also produced three touchdowns, two on the ground and one in the air and his 76-yard run will be a highlight play for many years to come. In the end, it came down to RG3 and Russell Wilson and I thought Wilson's performance against the Patriots was just a tad more impressive.
Weekly Winner: Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Last week it looked like Andrew Luck was closing in on RG3's lead, but Luck took a step back this week, while everyone else took a step forward, including RG3 himself. Right now, I'd rank Russell Wilson ahead of Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill not too far behind, considering his enormous improvements in the last three weeks. Brandon Weeden is bringing up the rear, but he's also shown a lot of improvement despite having poor weapons to work with. [A problem also faced by Tannehill.] RG3's spectacular performance to almost single-handedly beat the Vikings leaves him firmly in the lead for Rookie QB of the Year.
SEASON WINNER TO DATE: Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
