Javale McGee cut from Team USA

The title pretty much tells you everything. Wizards center Javale McGee, who was a star at the Las Vegas Summer League games earlier this month, has been cut from the Team USA squad. Memphis Grizzlies guard OJ Mayo, Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace and Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans were cut along with McGee. The cuts were made by USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo.

Two centers who were retained are Tyson Chandler of the Dallas Mavericks and Brook Lopez of the New Jersey Nets.

I guess this means McGee more time to prepare for the season. In all seriousness, though, I'm sure McGee is very disappointed. Nonetheless, he's opened some eyes this summer and has much to be proud of, much he can build on for the 2010-11 regular season.
