Yi Jianlian to miss 2-4 weeks with latest injury
I'll skip the "China doll" jokes and get straight to business -- Wizards forward Yi Jianlian will miss 2-4 weeks with a right MCL knee sprain, according to Post reporter Michael Lee. Yi was injured while fouling Ron Artest in the first quarter of a 103-89 loss to the visiting world champion Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. The extent of the injury was determined following an MRI performed on Wednesday. The injury is reportedly on the same area where an earlier knee bruise caused Yi to miss nine games this season.
Yi was acquired in a lopsided trade from the New Jersey Nets as part of that team's offseason salary cap purge. Yi is averaging 6.7 ppg and 3.7 rpg in 19 games this season. He's got two starts and is appearing for an average of 19.4 minutes per game.
Yi's injury is the latest setback to the Wizards, who missed PF Andray Blatche last night and have played without PG John Wall, the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft for much of the season.
