Washington Wizards Update
They still suck. They're awful. They're embarrassing.
The Sacramento Kings came into MCI Center tonight with a 10-22 record so it was reasonable to expect the Wiz might get a win tonight. Even more reasonable when they came out of the gate smoking hot, scoring 68 points in the first half.
Then they decided to take the rest of the night off, being outscored 55-39 in the second half. Nick Young missed 17 of 23 shots, while Young, Javale McGee and Trevor Booker were a combined -39 on on/off ratio. Rashard Lewis is on pace to get paid nearly $850,000 per basket. The team missed 11 of 27 free throws [the Kings made 25 of 27] and committed 18 turnovers, compared to only 10 by Sacramento. All this added up to a 115-107 loss, dropping the Wiz to 7-26.
Two guys showed up for the Wizards tonight. John Wall almost got a triple double, scoring 21 points on 8 of 15 shooting, to go with 11 assists and 9 rebounds. came off the bench to lead all scorers with 32 points on 12 of 19 shooting. However, with the rest of the team going through the motions, Wall, Crawford and Young each tried to win the game by himself with one on one ball, leading to a complete breakdown in the offense. Meanwhile, Wall got torched by Isaiah Thomas in the fourth quarter, when the Kings didn't even need Tyreke Evans or Demarcus Cousins on the floor to destroy the Wizards.
That fourth quarter was incredibly depressing -- much like the rest of the season. Washington's plan to draft a lottery player every year until the sun goes supernova is proceeding perfectly.
Also, the Caps lost.
