Wizards lose to Knicks
The Wizards lost 114-103 to the Knicks in the Garden tonight despite building a 10-point lead in the second half. Washington completely collapsed in the 4th quarter for the second straight game, allowing the Knicks to outscore them 37-19 in the final period. The Wizards led by 1 at halftime and 8 after 3 quarters, but allowed Danilo Gallinari and Sergio Rodriguez to go wild in the 4th as the Washington was outscored 32-11 in the last 9 minutes of the game.
David Lee led all scorers with 26 points on 12-18 shooting. Gallinari added 24 points, mostly in the 4th quarter and Toney Douglas putting in 16 off the bench. Chris Duhon scored 14 and Rodriguez put in 12. Mike Miller led the Wiz with 23 points on 9-14 shooting [5 of 8 on 3-pointers], 7 rebounds and 5 dimes. Andray Blatche added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists, but missed 5 of 7 free throws. The Wizards player of the game was Shaun Livingston, who scored 16 of his 18 points [6-8 shooting] in the second half and also dished 7 assists. Javale McGee came off the bench to score 8 points, grab 8 rebounds and block 6 shots. The Wizards shot 50% from the field and 59% on threes, but only 58% from the free throw line.
It was another game in which the Wizards played well for 3 quarters, but completely went to pieces in the final frame, something very familiar to fans of the team this season. When the chips are down the Wizards just cannot get key stops and they cannot make key shots or get big rebounds. Right now, the team just doesn't have any clutch players on the roster.
In an upbeat note, enjoy this amazing no-look behind-the-back pass from Blatche to Fabricio Oberto...
