Leonsis to change lighting at Verizon Center

During a radio interview with Holden Kushner, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis says he will change the lighting at the Verizon Center to resemble the schemes used at Madison Square Garden in New York and Staples Center in Los Angeles. What that means is that the Wizards will focus the lighting on the court, leaving the rest of the arena in shadow. It's an impressive sight inside the arena, as I think almost anyone who has watched a game at the Garden or Staples would agree.

This lighting scheme will not plunge the fans at Verizon Center into total darkness, it will be more like shadow. The court becomes more like a softly glowing stage in a theater. I, for one, regard this is a great change to the game atmosphere and aesthetics and yet another sign Leonsis is going to run the Wiz the right way. Below is a look at the Garden.
