Wizards Looking To Trade Up?
After showing their hand and the obvious need to draft Bradley Beal, the Wizards may be trading up to ensure his availability.
Washington is considering trading the #3 pick overall, along with their second round selection (#32 overall) to Charlotte, in exchange for the Bobcats first round pick (#2 overall). The trade would ensure that Beal would be available.
If the Wizards make the deal, they would have given up three draft selections (#3, #32 and #46) along with Rashard Lewis for Emeka Okafor, Trevor Ariza and Beal.
Wiz General Manager Ernie Grunfeld is concerned that Cleveland may trade up from #4 to #2 to grab Beal.
Washington is attempting to show interest in North Carolina small forward Harrison Barnes as a smoke screen, but nobody is buying.
At this point, Beal is a must for the Wizards. As a fallback plan, Washington should give a serious look at signing free agent Ray Allen.
